New login to my website

I want to make a new login to one of my websites.
http://quizstone.com/en/

The idea is to make it as simple as possible for the users. About six months ago I made a Facebook login, but this has not proven to be a perfect solution. People can still create an account, but I want to make a more generic solution.

The idea is to use OpenID
http://openid.net/developers/libraries/

I want to follow this tutorial
http://qpleple.com/how-to-make-people-login-into-your-website-with-their-google-account/

But make it use Google, Facebook, Yahoo...I will report to you when I'm done. Please let me know if you have some ideas, or tips...

Have a great day!

Starting on iPhone app development

In May 2010 I decided to start making apps for iPhone.

1. Buy a MacBook Pro
2. Register as a developer at Apple
3. Install X-Code

I simply left my apartment and bought a MacBook Pro (1) from a local dealer in Copenhagen. Spend about $2.500. Then I visited http://developer.apple.com signed up and paid $99, so I could test and publish my apps for real later on. Having accomplished (2) I went on and installed X-Code (3).

4. Learn Objective-C

This was the hard part. I am used to programming in various languages, but still there were many things to learn. I searched the Internet for tutorials and sample code. Also I found it useful to follow the videos from university classes - these can freely be found and access from iTunes (Search for Standford iPhone development).

5. Make a few apps to see what can be done

I made a few apps with still increasing difficulty, like "Hello World!", "Tab Bar", "Web View"....just followed my interest and what I found in the tutorials. I aimed for getting to know all the pieces need to put my own app together. I tested it in the simulator that comes with X-code and the later on My iPhone. You need to register your device as a developer phone for this.

6. My First own app

I wanted to make a quiz application, since I have a webpage with lots of questions. It was ready about two weeks later and it took another week for Apple to approve it. It surprisingly became the second most downloaded app in Denmark within a month.

I will post more about the creation of this app later...

Sorry for writing this about starting developing apps so short. There are many great guides out there - but go for Apples own, as this is guaranteed to be updated.

Feel free to comment and request more information about the various steps - I can add specific tips and tricks if needed. I is over a year ago and therefore I do not want to go into details, if nobody is reading it anyway :)

What is a Creative Nerd???

To be honest, I don't know. I spend about five minutes brainstorming with my self..answering big questions like "Who am I?", "Why are we here?", "What should I name this blog?" and then "Am I creative or just a computer nerd?" wikipedia then explained to me...

Nerd is a term that refers to an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit. Nerds are generally considered to be awkward, shy and/or unattractive by most. Thus, a nerd is often excluded from physical activity and considered a loner by others, or will tend to associate with a small group of like-minded people.

Creativity refers to the phenomenon whereby a person creates something new (a product, a solution, a work of art, a novel, a joke, etc.) that has some kind of value. What counts as "new" may be in reference to the individual creator, or to the society or domain within which the novelty occurs. What counts as "valuable" is similarly defined in a variety of ways.

Should I then name the page "Nonsocial Joke"....but in the end it became "Creativity + Computer Nerd = Creative Nerd" and a mix between Danish and English for the domain "KreativeNerd".

I will probably regret this many times - but you got to name it something!

Have a great evening!

Today I'm going to start my blog...

I have a simple purpose with this blog - to keep record of my thoughts, search, findings on the Internet. I have done this in various ways through over time, but I always lost track of it somewhere in the process. Will the same happen this time? Let's find out!

The second thought was something like "Why not share it?". But will it really be interesting for people to follow. Time will tell!

I'm Danish by the way and lives in Wonderful Copenhagen. So, third to me came the question "Should I blog in Danish or English?" Not sure yet, probably in languages from time to time. We will see!

Hope you all enjoy this Sunday evening!
